EFT Tapping
can help with so many health challenges?
The nervous system plays
a role in nearly every
aspect of our health and wellbeing.
It guides everyday activities:
automatic processes
such as breathing & digesting;
complex processes
such as thinking, reading, remembering, decision-making, and feeling emotions.
EFT Tapping directly regulates our nervous system.
It calms & stabilizes, while addressing internal or external triggers.
What exactly is EFT Tapping?
An evidence-based stress reduction technique
Tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), is a powerful stress relief technique.
EFT Tapping is based on the combined principles of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology.
EFT Tapping is a mind-body therapy that combines gentle tapping on specific points on the body with focused attention on a specific issue or problem.
It is an effective tool for personal, professional, mental, emotional, relational, or physical blocks.
EFT Tapping is a gentle and effective way to discharge emotional distress, negative thoughts, and repetitive patterns so we may be present for our lives.
This is a quick, practical and painless method that works, and can create freedom from our triggers and lessen our suffering.
EFT Tapping is a brief novel intervention combining elements of exposure and cognitive behavioural therapy, and somatic stimulation.
It is often referred to as ‘psychological acupuncture’ and uses a two finger tapping process with a cognitive statement.
EFT Tapping has been researched in more than 10 countries, by more than 60 investigators, whose results have been published in more than 20 different peer-reviewed journals.
There is actually quite a bit of credible research out there demonstrating that tapping reduces cortisol (the stress hormone) in the body more significantly and quickly than more conventional methods.
EFT Tapping is very effective for reducing anxiety, stress and other emotional issues and it works on both real and imagined stressors. EFT Tapping significantly increases positive emotions and self esteem and resilience, and decreases negative emotional states.
EFT Tapping affects the amygdala (stress center in the brain) and hippocampus (memory center), and both play a role in the decision process when you decide if something is a threat.
How to use EFT Tapping
STEP 1: IDENTIFY YOUR PROBLEM
This could be a feeling, thought, a belief or a physical sensation.
STEP 2: RATE YOUR LEVEL OF DISTRESS
0 = no distress,
10 = most distress you would ever feel.
STEP 3: STATE YOUR PROBLEM OUT LOUD
State your problem out loud (setup statement) while tapping with 2 fingers on the side of the hand.
Say it 3 times.
Setup Statement: Even though I have this problem (insert actual words), I completely accept myself.
"Even though I feel scared about giving that speech tomorrow, I completely accept myself."
STEP 4: TAP 2 FINGERS ON THE POINTS
Tap with 2 fingers on the points (#1-8) on the face & body, while saying a short version of the setup statement.
"I feel scared."
STEP 5: TAKE A DEEP BREATH
Take a deep breath when you finish tapping and re-reate your level of distress. If it is not a 0 or 1, repeat Step 4, until intensity decreases.
